Rapper Ja Rule has been released from prison after two years confinement.
The 37-year-old was sentenced to 24 months for illegal gun possession and another 28 months for failing to pay his taxes, with the sentences running concurrently.

But he was released two months early on Tuesday on the tax evasion charge, to spend the rest of his sentence under house arrest.

"Rapper Ja Rule was sentenced to two years in prison on Monday after pleading guilty to the illegal possession of a firearm.

The 34-year-old chose to plead guilty rather than go to trial, where he would have faced up to seven years in jail if found guilty.
