Madea, Tyler Perry's most popular character in his plays and movies is, ".. a cross between my mother and my aunt - she's the type of grandmother that was on every corner when I was growing up."
Though he's gotten harsh criticism from the Black community over some of his work and characters, Tyler has said that Madea is a celebration of strong black women inclusive of his mother.
Willie Perry was a nursery school assistant for 10 years at the Jewish Community Center in New Orleans.
My prayers definitely go out to Tyler and his family.
