Documentary - "J Dilla: Still Shining"

Today marks what would have been his 37th birthday. Known as Jay Dee, Dilla Dawg, and James to others, Producer and Hip-Hop artist J Dilla laid tracks that have allowed positive rap artists to fully express themselves since the mid 90s. His life’s soundtracks feature organic instruments tastefully blended with old school cuts that immediately get the dance floor crunk and have helped define the styles of artists like Busta Rhymes, Common, Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and his own group Slum Village.

Juelz Santana Arrested

Juelz was supposed to make his way to Chicago last month but instead tweeted he wouldn’t be making it due to some issues with the 5-0. Those issues: a search warrant at Santana’s recording studio on Washington Ave. The boys in blue came through, found two full-loaded 9mm handguns and 17 bags of “suspected” marijuana according to the Bergen County prosecutor John L. Molinelli.

Juelz whose real name is Laron James found himself being charged yesterday with possession of a firearm, possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of a controlled substance plus intent to distribute and to cap it all off, it all went down within 1,000 feet of a school zone. As you can tell, that’s a lot of possessions and some serious costs in lawyer fees. He was later released on $125,000 bail. We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.
